Hi everyone! Fred here again
This is another Fire/Flame Effect but this time is made purely in Swishmax. I wasn’t able to really perfect the flame but it’ll pass for a look-alike (I think) :D . Also, I dunno if I explained this tutorial well.. and if so just download the SWI :lol:
[1] Create a circle, change the shape color to a linear gradient with yellow (alpha = 100) on the left bar and yellow (alpha = 0) on the right as seen below:

[2] Copy and paste other instances of the circle and arrange them horizontally so that the bottom circle is the biggest and the top is the smallest Note: the circles don’t necessarily have to be arranged in a straight horizontal. Just scatter them around a bit.
[3] Group some of the circles into individual sprites. Inside the sprites, do a Transform Effect. Make sure that inside the transform effect properties the size is set to 100% (no change). Click on the Start, Middle and End boxes. Change the alpha of the Start and End to 20 (any value you that will look better to you) and the Middle alpha to 100.

Now for the little upward movement ;) [4] Do steps [1] and [2] but this time the circles are smaller. Group these into one sprite. In the sprite, add Fade In effects from the bottom (biggest circle) to the top (smallest circle). After the last Fade In effect has been placed, put Fade Out effects for all objects at the same frame in the timeline as shown below. Note: Change the gradient colors of the smallest and the second to the smallest to orange or maybe red (with an alpha of, let’s say, 60).

[5] Select all objects, copy and then do a “Paste in place.” The objective is to make a new set/copy of circles. Move the Fade In effects of the new set up on the timeline where the Fade Out of the previous set is placed. Remove the Fade Out effects of the second set down the timeline so that it starts at frame 1. In the image above, #1 is just a copy of #2 (all in the same sprite).
By the way, the movie fps is set to 100 <_<
I drew a candle just for kicks, so the finished effect will look something like this: Candle
Hope I explained this clearly (my apologies if it wasn't clear enough :D ) I will try to make better samples and tuts when I can think of it ;)
:: Cheers! ::
Fred
